Sanibel Fishing Pier

This is the public fishing pier on the east side of Sanibel near the old Lighthouse. This can be an ideal afternoon location when you have a west wind. Typically you will find Egrets and Herons who are very accustomed to people waiting to devourer any scrapes from the fisherman. When the baitfish are schooling in the surf the birds will be right there forging for them. A handheld telephoto lens is all you need here.

Directions: Once coming across the Sanibel Causeway you will come to a 4-way intersection. Make a left on Periwinkle Way and continue to the end. There will be an entrance on the left to a small metered parking area. As of this writing the meters are now enforced 24x7. This is also known as Lighthouse Point.
